Adoption Event Ambassador
Major Objective: Positively and knowledgeably increase the public’s knowledge and understanding of MoKan Greyhound Adoption.
Duties:
• Staff information, adoption or retail booth at pet stores, community events, festivals, fundraisers and other off-site locations.
• Safely and humanely handle adoptable dogs at events.
• Accept responsibility for booth materials and sometimes retail merchandise.
• Present a professional and positive image of the program to the community.
• Provide general adoption program information to the public and adoption counseling to potential adopters.
• Accurately and positively represent the program’s views on animal welfare issues.
• Promote adoption program’s fundraising events, activities and volunteer opportunities.
• Occasionally sell retail merchandise and record information correctly. Cash handling.
Training:

• Complete a Volunteer Profile and Waiver
• Read volunteer manual or volunteer website
Commitment: The average time commitment for Adoption Event Ambassadors is an average of two to four hours of booth time per event depending on the event. Must be available to volunteer on the weekends and during the busy summer event season, must have own transportation and be a minimum of 14 years of age.
Volunteer Profile: Outgoing personality, good communication skills, commitment to animal welfare and ability to speak assertively and professionally. Interested in learning all aspects of shelter services, safe animal handling skills and desire to work with the public to increase awareness and understanding. Minimal cash handling at larger events.

Supervision: This position reports to the Volunteer Manager and the Event Coordinator.
